New Books ...

The beautiful Indian style illustrations, include some surprise fold-out pages. An educational and entertaining book on many levels, it illustrates a difficult maths concept, tells a dynamic fable from another country, and it is fantastic to look at.

Jessica Murray and Laura Littlewood thought that:

parents would choose this book because it's interesting for their children under thirteen and it has some good describing words, also great pictures for the little ones to look at.

Jordan Bracewell, Gary Lapsley and Brady Coombs reported that they were, 'instantly attracted' to the book because of its 'bold colours' and they also liked, 'the flaps inside the book because we think this would encourage younger children to read and it will be like a game'.

Georgina and Danielle liked this because 'it looked like a girly book' and was about Princesses, one of their favourite topics. They summed up their views as follows: It is a book of make-believe and happy endings.  We particularly liked the story of Sleeping Beauty, which was slightly different to the one we know, the Queen was in the bath when she met the frog! 

Kane Low and Adam Knights chose:
The Little Crooked House
Kane and Adam decided that this book would appeal to children up to 8 years old. They particularly liked the way the words in the text, 'make you think that the train, desert and the wide river are alive', because of the way they are written.
